Hobby 2000 48049 Harrier GR.5 1/48
The Harrier GR.5 was the first British version of the second-generation Harrier II. It retained the family’s most distinctive feature – short and vertical take-off and landing capability – while introducing a new wing and significantly improved combat capabilities.
The GR.5 entered RAF service in the late 1980s and became the direct predecessor of the later GR.7 and GR.9. It is an interesting subject for modellers of late Cold War British aviation, especially in the distinctive two-tone green RAF camouflage of the period.
Marking options included
- Harrier GR.5 ZD407, No. 3 Squadron RAF, Gütersloh, Germany, 6 July 1990.
- Harrier GR.5 ZD346, No. 233 OCU, Wittering, September 1990.
- Harrier GR.5 ZD400, No. 1(F) Squadron RAF, Red Flag exercise, Nellis AFB, USA, May 1991.
- Harrier GR.5 ZD352, No. 1(F) Squadron RAF, Red Flag exercise, Nellis AFB, USA, May 1991.
The two Red Flag options feature distinctive individual markings, making this release particularly attractive for anyone looking to build a Harrier from the period of intensive RAF training with NATO and US forces.
