1/35 H39 French Light Tank – Dual French & German Versions
Originally developed in the mid-1930s for the French cavalry, the H35 light tank served as the foundation for the upgraded H39, introduced in 1939. Featuring a rounded, cast-metal hull, the H39 was powered by a 120hp engine and armed with a 37mm L/33 gun. Many vehicles were equipped with a trench-crossing tail for improved battlefield mobility.
During the German invasion of France in 1940, H39 tanks were actively deployed by French forces. Following the French surrender, captured units were repurposed by the Wehrmacht and reclassified as Pz.Kpfw.38H 735(f). German modifications included the addition of a commander's cupola and other equipment.
