Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate “Aces” 1/72
Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate (“Gale”) was the most advanced fighter aircraft produced in series for the Imperial Japanese Army during the Second World War. It combined high speed, excellent manoeuvrability, powerful armament and very good performance at low and medium altitudes. When it entered frontline service in the autumn of 1944, it was one of the few Japanese aircraft capable of effectively challenging the latest American fighters.
Despite Japan’s steadily worsening military situation, many Hayate pilots achieved impressive combat records. This kit features two aircraft flown by some of the best-known aces associated with the Ki-84.

This aircraft was flown by one of the most successful pilots of the 50th Sentai. Its most distinctive feature is the striking red-and-white lightning marking extending along the rear fuselage and tail.
Ki-84 Ko Hayate – 2nd Chutai, 85th Sentai
Major Yukiyoshi Wakamatsu – 18 or more victories
Canton, China, December 1944.
This aircraft belonged to the commander of the 85th Sentai and one of the leading aces to fly the Hayate. It is distinguished by broad red bands around the fuselage and tail, together with the characteristic “若” marking on the vertical stabiliser.
