F-35 Lightning II
The F-35 Lightning II is the latest 5th generation multirole fighter aircraft developed by Lockheed Martin. The F-35A is the conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL) variant designed for air force operations. It features stealth technology, advanced avionics, sensor integration, and the ability to carry out a wide range of missions – from air-to-air combat to precision strikes on ground targets.
F-35A in the Polish Air Force
Poland signed a contract for 32 F-35A aircraft to be delivered between 2024 and 2030. The first jets will be based in the USA (Ebbing Air National Guard Base, Arkansas) for pilot and maintenance training.
The goals of introducing the F-35A into the Polish Air Force include:
- replacing the aging MiG-29 and Su-22 fleet,
- ensuring information superiority through network-centric warfare,
- strengthening NATO defense capabilities,
- enabling operations in heavily defended airspace.
The F-35A will become the backbone of the Polish Air Force for decades, combining combat, reconnaissance, and allied support roles.
