Early combat version of the famous He 162 “Salamander”. 1/32 scale kit with 3 marking options from the final Luftwaffe period.
The Heinkel He 162 A-1 Salamander was conceived as a jet fighter that could be produced quickly, cheaply and in large numbers — even under the collapsing industrial conditions of the final months of the war. Although it appeared too late and in limited numbers, it remains one of the most fascinating symbols of late-war aviation urgency and technological improvisation.
The A-1 was one of the early combat-capable variants of the type. Its appearance perfectly reflects the realities of late-war aircraft production: mixed materials, simplified engineering, uneven finishes and a highly distinctive, compact silhouette.
For modellers, the He 162 is a particularly rewarding subject:
- it features a very unusual airframe layout,
- offers excellent opportunities for late-war Luftwaffe camouflage work,
- allows for interesting contrasts between painted, unpainted and puttied surfaces,
- and delivers all of that in a relatively compact 1/32 format.
The kit includes 3 attractive marking options, ranging from more typical late-war finishes to highly unusual improvised schemes.
Marking options included
- He 162 A-1, W.Nr. 310003, Yellow 5, 3./JG 1, Leck, Germany, May 1945,
- He 162 A-1, W.Nr. 310027, Bernburg, Germany, April 1945,
- He 162 A-1, W.Nr. 310005, Red 7, 2./JG 1, Leck, Germany, May 1945
