Laser cut mask set for Sea Hurricane MK IIc from Arma Hobby 1/48
1ManArmy Paint Masks – Sea Hurricane Mk IIc (Arma Hobby 40009) 1/48
A precision mask set designed for painting the markings of the 1/48 scale Sea Hurricane Mk IIc from the Arma Hobby 40009 kit. With these masks you can airbrush the complete set of markings without using decals, achieving a finish close to how the markings appeared on the real aircraft.
The masks reproduce the full set of markings from the decal sheet of the Arma Hobby 40009 kit – from roundels and unit codes to serial numbers and fine maintenance stencils. This solution is ideal for modellers who prefer painted markings and want full control over colour tone, weathering, and how the markings blend with the camouflage.
Complete markings from the Arma Hobby 40009 kit
The mask set allows you to paint all markings included in the Sea Hurricane Mk IIc (40009) kit for three aircraft schemes:
- AM277
- NF672
- JS310
The masks cover all elements included on the kit’s decal sheet:
- RAF / Fleet Air Arm roundels
- fin flash markings
- unit codes
- serial numbers
- full set of maintenance stencils
This makes it possible to finish the entire model almost using only masks and paint. You need a squadron insignia and pin-up from decals only.
Why use masks instead of decals?
On real aircraft, markings were applied with paint using stencils. Masks allow you to replicate this technique on a model, avoiding the visible carrier film typical of decals and allowing the markings to blend naturally into the painted surface.
- very high precision thanks to laser cutting
- sharp, clean edges of all markings
- ability to reproduce very fine details in 1/48 scale
- painted markings – no decal carrier film
- greater control over weathering and colour tone
- perfect for use with an airbrush

1 Man Army Masks – What They Are and How to Use Them
1 Man Army masks are precisely laser-cut adhesive stencils designed for painting markings, tactical numbers, and technical stencils directly onto the model – without the use of decals. This method produces a more realistic and durable finish, free from the visible edges that can occur with traditional decals.
How to use 1 Man Army masks:
- Detach the selected element from the sheet (e.g., a number or label). Apply a piece of masking tape or clear transfer tape over the entire marking.
- Use the tape to transfer the mask to the model without distorting its shape or alignment.
- Press the mask firmly onto the model's surface, especially around the edges.
- Carefully remove the transfer tape, leaving the mask in place.
- Apply a thin layer of paint – ideally with an airbrush.
- Once the paint is dry, remove the mask to reveal a clean, sharp marking.
Masks are intended for single use and should be applied only to clean, dry, and degreased surfaces.
